Cordova International Raceway to host Junior Shootout

CORDOVA, Ill. — Many of the top Junior Dragster racers from the Midwest will be coming to Cordova International Raceway to compete in the Jr. News 32-car Shoot Out on Saturday, June 8.


The one-day event pits the best Junior racers competing for $1,000 winner’s purse. In addition, there is a $500 purse for the runner-up and $125 prize for those who reach the semifinal round.


Drivers must be pre-entered to participate with the cost only $75 to pre-enter. To pre-enter the event or for more information contact Bobby Ince at 309-525-0448.


June 8th – 32 car Junior Shootout. Gates open at 11 am and on track at 1 pm. 6 spots left Entry is $75

1 time run given after 3rd round of the Kamper Korner bracket race.

June 9th – Junior Nationals w/ Ironman all run and Quick 16 Jr Race. Gates open at 8 am on track at 9 am. Class Entry Fees- Age Group $35, Index Classes $35, All Run $35, Quick 16 $50, Fun Races $10.

2 time runs per class.


  • Age Group Classes (Iron Man) 7-9 year olds, 10-11 year olds, 12-14 year olds, 15-17 year olds – ran on a Sportsman Tree
  • Index Classes (Trophies to Winner & Runner-up in each class 7.90, 8.90 & 11.90 ran on a .400 Pro Tree
  • All Run (Iron Man) ran on Sportsman Tree
  • Quick 16 Winner $250 & Trophy, Runner – up $100 & Trophy
  • If time allows – parents race, pit vehicle race, turtle race (Winner Trophy)
