CORDOVA, Ill. (January 17, 2019) – Cordova International Raceway announced the 2019 schedule today highlighted by the 66th Annual O’Reilly Auto Parts World Series of Drag Racing, Aug. 23-25.
The O’Reilly Auto Parts World Series of Drag Racing is the world’s longest continually running drag racing event. Other 2019 marquee events include the inaugural Nitro Nostalgia Nationals Pro Show, June 1, which will feature Nitro Front Engine Dragsters, Nitro Funny Cars and more exotic machines. The Original Super Chevy Show, the premier destination for all things Chevrolet, comes to Cordova, July 6-7.
A pair of Volunteer Days are scheduled for April 6 and 13 where racers, fans and other supporters in the community and from as far away as Chicago come out to fellowship and prepare the facility for the new season. The season starts just a week later, Saturday, April 20, with the Spring Warm-Up and Swap Meet / Car Show.
The first points race for the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Summit Super Series is slated for Saturday, May 11.
Thursday Nights Slicks and Radials testing for cars, trucks and motorcycles is scattered throughout the season, while the popular “River Redemption,” small-tire racing series returns for a second season. The end of the season features Folk Fun for 5 Oct. 5-6 and the Halloweird/St. Jude’s Benefit Race Oct. 19.
